Understanding Energy Options in Torrance
Energy is one of the largest recurring expenses for Torrance households and businesses. Electricity rates in Southern California are among the highest in the nation, natural gas prices can fluctuate seasonally, and businesses with large facilities face significant demand charges. At the same time, Torrance residents and companies have more energy choices than ever before, including utility service, community choice programs, direct access electricity providers, rooftop solar, battery storage and propane delivery. Knowing who supplies energy in Torrance, and what options are available, can help you lower costs, improve reliability and meet sustainability goals. Here are the top 10 energy suppliers serving Torrance.
How Energy Supply Works in California
Electricity in Torrance is delivered over the grid operated by Southern California Edison, which handles transmission, distribution and billing. Customers may receive their electricity generation from the utility, from a community choice aggregator where available, or, for eligible commercial customers, from a direct access electric service provider. Natural gas is delivered by Southern California Gas Company. On-site energy systems such as solar and batteries allow customers to generate and store their own power.
